Getting Started on the Broker Portal: Brokers, Partners and Resellers

Modified on Sun, 27 Sep at 9:16 AM

Purpose

The Broker Portal is where brokers, partners and resellers work with the client employers they serve. Depending on the services your firm offers, you may administer benefits for your clients, deliver payroll and HR services to them, or both.

From here you add client employers, give those clients access to UZIO, work inside a client's account on their behalf, and share documents across your clients. This article explains who is who in your firm's account and the order most new users do things in, with a link to the article for each step. The portal and these articles use "broker" for anyone working on the portal, whatever kind of firm you are.

Who this is for: anyone newly set up on the Broker Portal as an agency (partner firm) user, a broker, or an account manager.

The three roles on the Broker Portal

RoleWho it isWhat they can do
AgencyYour firm's own account: the insurance agency, or the partner or reseller company.Everything a broker or account manager can do, plus adding and managing the agency's brokers and account managers and assigning clients to brokers.
BrokerA licensed agent, sales rep, or service lead working under the agency.Manages their own clients: adds client employers, services their employees, and can add account managers to help.
Account ManagerA helper working for one or more brokers, or for the agency directly.Almost everything a broker can do for the clients of the brokers they are linked to. They cannot add other account managers.

An account manager who is not linked to a particular broker works for the agency as a whole.

Note: One UZIO login covers every portal you are entitled to. If you are also an employee of a company that uses UZIO, or you have set up your own agency as a client, you use the same username and password for the Broker, Employer and Employee portals.

Your first week

  1. Register and log in. Your account starts with a welcome email. See Registering and Logging In to the Broker Portal.
  2. Check your profile. Confirm your contact details and your licence or sales-rep details. See Updating Your Broker Profile, Username and Password.
  3. Set up your team. An agency adds its brokers, and brokers or the agency add account managers. See Adding Brokers to Your Agency and Assigning Their Clients and Adding Account Managers to Help Service Your Clients.
  4. Add your clients. Add each employer you work with, then give them access when you are ready. See Adding a Client Employer and Giving Them Access.
  5. Learn what you can do inside a client's account. Some actions depend on your platform's settings or on your client's own preferences. See Working Inside a Client's Employer Account.
  6. Share documents across clients. Add a document once and share it with some or all of your clients. See Sharing Signable Documents With Your Clients.

Benefits work for a client (plans and rates, proposals, renewals and enrollment files) is covered in the broker benefits articles; it applies if your firm administers benefits for its clients. If your firm provides payroll services, step 5 matters most: what you can do in a client's payroll depends on switches UZIO sets for your platform.

When your client takes over

Once you give a client access, their Employer Administrator registers and runs their own Employer Portal. Many day-to-day tasks then happen on the employer's side, and your client can decide whether you may work in their HR modules. It helps to point your client at Registering and Logging In to the Employer Portal when you send their access.

Common problems

I'm an account manager and I can't see a client

You see the clients of the brokers you are linked to. If a client belongs to a broker you are not linked to, ask your agency or that broker to link you. See Adding Account Managers to Help Service Your Clients.

I'm a broker and I can't add brokers

Adding brokers is an agency task. Brokers can add account managers, but not other brokers.

Still stuck?

If you are your agency's first user and your welcome email never arrived, please reach out to us at support@uzio.com or call +1-571-601-1752. Send your agency name, the email address you expect to log in with, and roughly when your account was set up.
