Adding a Client Employer and Giving Them Access

Modified on Sun, 27 Sep at 9:15 AM

Purpose

Every client you serve on UZIO starts as an employer record you add from the Broker Portal. Adding the client does not contact anyone. You can set up the company, its details and its employees first, then give access when you are ready for the client to log in. You can also add a test client to demo UZIO to a prospect without sending a single email.

Who can do this: agency users, brokers and account managers.

Add a client

  1. Click Clients in the top menu. The Manage Employers page opens.
  2. Click Add Employer and choose a method:
    • Bulk upload for many clients. Download the employer template, read its Instructions tab, and fill in the mandatory columns (marked *). Click Validate to check the file, then Upload Template. A success message confirms the upload.
    • Enter Manually for one or a few.
  3. Enter the company details, the primary contact's personal information, and contact information.
  4. Click Add to Client. The employer appears on Manage Employers.

Optional details worth adding now

FieldWhat it does
Standard Industry Classification (SIC)The four-digit government code for the client's main line of business. With group size and business type, it affects which plans are available.
Customer Care NumberShown to the client's employees on their portal and in emails from the employer
Company LogoShown to employees on the Employee Portal and in emails. The recommended size is shown on screen.

You can also set up the client's departments and job titles while adding them, so HR picks from a consistent list when adding employees.

Give the client access

When the client is ready to log in, open the Action(s) menu for the client on Manage Employers and choose Give Access to Employer. The contact you entered receives a registration email and, once registered, becomes the client's Employer Administrator.

Employee access is given the same way, with Give Access to Employees.

Tip: Send your client the employer registration guide along with the invitation. It covers the email to look for and what to do if it does not arrive.

Warning: The registration email goes to the contact email on the client record, and that address becomes the administrator's login. Check it before you give access. Usernames are unique across UZIO. If the address already belongs to a UZIO login (for example, the contact's own employee account), they cannot register it a second time and log in with that existing account instead.

Test clients

A test client lets you walk a prospect through UZIO with realistic data.

  • No emails go to a test client or its employees, whatever you do in the account.
  • Premium features are switched on for the system-created test client, so you can show everything.
  • Use Show Test Data to show or hide test clients in your list. When it is off, the option to add a test client does not appear under Add Employer.

After adding the client

The usual next steps are adding the client's employees and preparing their benefits. Those are covered in the broker benefits articles. For what you can do day to day inside the client's account, see Working Inside a Client's Employer Account.

Common problems

My client says they never got the registration email

Check the contact email on the client record, correct it if needed, and give access again. Ask the client to search spam for Register on Uzio!. If they see The employer's email address is already registered as a username, that address already has a UZIO login. They log in with that account instead of registering.

I can't find the option to add a test client

Turn Show Test Data on. The test-client option is hidden while it is off.

My bulk upload won't validate

Fix the rows the validation flags (most often a missing mandatory column) and click Validate again before uploading. Check the Instructions tab in the template for the format each column expects.

I removed a client by mistake

UZIO sends a notification when a client is removed, but there is no self-service undo. Contact UZIO Support straight away (below).

Still stuck?

Please reach out to us at support@uzio.com or call +1-571-601-1752. Send the client's company name and FEIN, the contact email you entered, what you were trying to do, and a screenshot of any message.
