What is 2-Step Verification?
2-Step Verification, also known as MFA (Multi Factor Authentication, is a two-step process for login authentication that requires a user to verify their identity through two different, independent methods.
- Something you know, like your password
- Something you have, like your phone
UZIO strongly recommends that you enable this extra layer of security for your account to prevent unauthorized access and keep your details safe.
How do I set up 2-Step Verification for my UZIO account?
UZIO as software for all your HR, Payroll, and Benefit needs contains some of your most sensitive information. 2-Step Login gives you the option to require a passcode when you log in to your account. Below are the details on how to set this up.
Step 1: Click on your Account Information from Welcome Menu

Step 2: On the Account Information page, go to the 2-Step Verification tab. By default, 2-Step Verifications for your account will appear disabled until set up.

Step 3: Before you set up 2-Step Verifications on your account, you will be asked for your login credentials. Once the system has successfully verified your account, you can set up the 2-Step login.

Step 4: Select either of the methods you want to set up for your account. Let's say you want to set up an Authentication App which is the most secure one.

Step 5: Install the authenticator app like google authenticator or authy on your mobile device and connect the authenticator app to UZIO (from your mobile device)
- Continue the 2-step verification setup in UZIO.
- Download Google authenticator for iOS or Android and scan the QR code in UZIO.
- You can use other authenticator apps, but the steps may not align.
- Open the app and tap Get Started.
- Tap Scan a QR Code and point your camera at the QR code on the UZIO page.
- Once the app generates the six-digit code, enter it in UZIO.
- Complete any remaining steps in UZIO.

Step 6: Once you enter the code generated through the authentication app, it will be verified and on successful verifications, 2-Step Verifications will be enabled for your account. If you are using common login details to access employee, employer and broker portal, then this 2-Step Verification will apply for all your UZIO accounts.

Step 6: For the next time you login, along with your User ID and Password, the system will ask the code generated through your additional authentication method that you set up. In this case Authentication App being set up, so the user enters the code generated from the authentication app and clicks on Verify Code. On successful verification of the code, you can access your UZIO account as usual.

Remember this browser for 30 days if you want to skip 2-step verification for 30 days on the same browser. You can click this check box on the verification page.
- Only remember a browser that you trust, like you accessing it using your personal computer or mobile phone. If you choose to remember, you'll still be prompted once every 30 days to enter the 2-step verification code on your login.
- On the mobile app while login for the 1st time, you will be prompted to enter the verification code and won’t ask again until unless you log out mobile app and login again.
Not able to authenticate your account using 2-step verification
If you cannot authenticate yourself because of some reason like you changed your mobile number which has been registered for SMS text for authentication or you accidentally uninstalled the authentication app, etc. Send an email to us at support@uzio.com. Our support team at earliest will help you login to your account.
Note: The broker partner or employer administrator can’t remove the 2-step verification process from employees’ accounts.
Google Authenticator codes not working?
According to Google, the Authenticator app's time may not be synced correctly. Check that the clock on your device is correct and set to the correct timezone. Check out this article for steps to fix this issue.
How to Change the 2-Step Verification method.
You can set up either the Authentication App or SMS Text as your Authentication method for your account. You can change your already enabled authentication method and set up another one by clicking on the Change button available at the 2-Step Verification page.

How to remove 2-Step Verification from your account.
UZIO strongly recommends you to use 2-Step Verification for your account, and if required, you can change the authentication method. In one odd situation, you still want to remove the 2-Step Verification. You can click on the Remove button available at the 2-Step Verification page.
